Complex Event Processing (CEP) is a set of technologies that allows events to be processed on a continuous basis. Going beyond business intelligence to find hidden patterns in data, advanced analytics includes techniques like cluster analysis, complex event processing. Paul Vincent, CTO Business Rules and CEP, TIBCO Software. ▫ Member OMG PRR and W3C RIF rules standards bodies. ▫ Co-author CEP.

Track and trace This aspect is about tracking the product, person, document or entity of interest over time and tracing pertinent facts like location, owner, or general status.

An example would be tracking events from an RFID-enabled inventory control system where at any point in time you need to know how many widgets are in what location. For this reason, CEP is often described as a generalization of Complex event processing tibco Activity Monitoring BAMalthough the event processing task may be only indirectly related to business, as in the case of an engine monitoring application or process routing task.

A track is often constructed based on detections of an individual identified event complex event processing tibco, but it can also be indirectly based on detecting actionable parameters of event objects.

Examples of event refinement track and trace are: Kindly note that in the examples above the event objects are a stream of single stock transactions: Some simple applications, for example self-contained processing of well formatted homogeneous streaming market complex event processing tibco, require very little preprocessing.

However, most classes of complex event processing problems require the correlation and analysis of events from different event sources. I will discuss this in more detail in a later blog entry. What is important to remember is that raw data must be transformed normalizedsecurely transmitted as an electronic message across the network and formatted complex event processing tibco a manner that optimizes event processing throughput.

In some CEP application, a queuing system architecture may be desirable.

In other CEP application, a topic-based publish and subscribe architecture may be required. Time and causality impose partial orderings upon events. This leads us to the current working EPTS definition of complex event processing:
